Fun and festivities await families this holiday season with Livingstone Shire Council’s "Summer on the Capricorn Coast" Program!
Council is thrilled to launch the much-anticipated “Summer on the Capricorn Coast” school holiday program, designed to bring fun, creativity, and community spirit to the Shire’s youth and families!
Children of all ages can look forward to an exciting line-up of activities that promise something for everyone, from Christmas crafts and markets to live music, bingo, and special holiday experiences.
Co-Chair of the Recreation and Culture Committee, Councillor Andrea Friend, encouraged families to dive into the holiday spirit and join in the festivities.
“Council’s school holiday program is incredibly popular, and we’ve seen it grow year after year. It’s truly heart-warming to see families coming together to create lasting memories,” Cr Friend said.
“Council is committed to offering our Shire’s youth a variety of activities over the school holidays, and we’re proud to provide a safe, joyful space for everyone to enjoy.”
This year’s program includes hands-on activities like “CLAY-MAS”, a Christmas clay-making workshop, “Tiny Trade”, a pre-loved clothing and toy market, and “Crafty Christmas”, with festive crafts for all ages.
Kids can also enjoy “Christmas Candyland” activities like cupcake decorating, Christmas tree crafts, and a vibrant Candyland Disco.
Live music will be a staple at the Tides & Tunes concert series, held on the picturesque Yeppoon Foreshore Amphitheatre, showcasing a range of musical acts from December through January.
Highlights include performances by local artists such as Sarah Jane, Motherlove, Chilli Peach, and more, offering families a unique way to unwind and enjoy the coastal atmosphere.
Other program highlights include:
New Year's Eve at the Beach celebration: Laser light show, stilt walkers, hula hoopers, and live music to ring in the new year!
12 Days of Christmas Bingo: Fun prizes and holiday cheer for all ages.
Councillor Friend expressed appreciation for the Council staff and local groups that collaborated to create this exciting program.
“These events help to bring our Shire to life, activating community spaces while fostering connection, and we commend the dedication and creativity of everyone involved,” Cr Friend said.
“We look forward to welcoming Livingstone’s young people and their families as they join in over five weeks of adventure, learning, and entertainment across our region’s beautiful backyard.”
