Operating hours to change at The Caves Waste Transfer Station following community survey results

Council has endorsed changes to the operating hours of The Caves Waste Transfer Station, following a comprehensive community survey and detailed discussions in the November Ordinary Council meeting.

The survey, conducted earlier this year, invited residents in the localities of Glenlee, Glendale, Rockyview and The Caves to share their preferences for the facility’s operating hours.

Consultation was undertaken with the residents of the Northern Suburbs and the following opening times have been adopted:

  • Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 2:30pm – 5pm
  • Saturday: 10am – 3pm
  • Sunday: 2.30pm – 5pm

Council has resolved to implement these changes commencing in the New Year, from Monday 27 January 2025.

Co-Chair of the Infrastructure Standing Committee, Councillor Glenda Mather said the updated hours reflect the community’s input and balance operational efficiency with accessibility.

“We are committed to ensuring Council services meet the needs of our community, and this decision is a direct result of listening to the voices of Northern Corridor residents,” Cr Mather said.

“The new hours aim to provide better access to the facility while maintaining cost-effective operations.

“Council would like to sincerely thank residents for their input and assisting Council in the decision-making process.”
