Event organisers invited to apply for Round 1 2025/26 of Council’s Event Sponsorship Program!
Council is proud to build on its success in supporting local events, announcing the latest round of its Event Sponsorship Program for 2025/26.
This initiative offers event organisers an opportunity to secure financial or value-in-kind support for events hosted between 1 July and 31 December 2025.
Co-Chair of the Recreation and Culture Committee, Cr Lance Warcon, highlighted the program's dual benefits.
“The Event Sponsorship Program not only enriches the cultural and social landscape of the Livingstone Shire region but also drives significant economic growth,” Cr Warcon said.
“By supporting a diverse array of events, we’re enhancing community connections and boosting local tourism and business opportunities.”
With an annual budget exceeding $200,000, the Council's sponsorship program empowers event organisers to deliver experiences that range from intimate community gatherings to large-scale economic initiatives.
Cr Warcon expressed his pride in the program’s ongoing success.
“The response to each round since the programs revitalisation in 2023 has been brilliant,” Cr Warcon added.
“The diversity of events and the enthusiasm of organisers highlight the vibrant fabric of our community and its commitment to fostering meaningful connections. From established events to emerging ideas, this program supports the very essence of what makes our Shire special.”
Council supports on average, over 30 community events annually that all have a positive impact on the Shire.
Some of the Shire’s annual event highlights include Yeppoon Lions Tropical Pinefest, community markets, sailing regattas, local sporting events, Agricultural Shows, Capricorn Film Festival, Emu Park’s Festival of the Wind, Classics by the Coast car show, King of Kings Fishing Competition, Capricorn Coast Writers Festival, ANZAC Day services, Carols by the Beach, Oktoberfest hosted by Lions Club of Emu Park, and the Great Australia Day Beach Party.
Councillor Warcon emphasised the importance of collaboration.
“The achievements of events like the CQU Village Festival, Yeppoon Running Festival, demonstrate the transformative outcomes of Council sponsorships,” Cr Warcon said.
“I encourage all event organisers to apply, as these events significantly contribute to the vibrancy and vitality of our region.
“Council remains committed to fostering a thriving, connected, and dynamic community, celebrating the events that bring us together and shape our region’s future.”
Round 1 applications are open today, Wednesday, 29 January 2025, and will close at midnight on Tuesday 25th February, 2025.
