BOMAG Compactor Boosts Efficiency at Yeppoon Landfill
Livingstone Shire Council, in partnership with its landfill operations contractor Outlook Australia, has welcomed the arrival of a new 26-tonne BOMAG compactor at the Yeppoon landfill site. This state-of-the-art machinery will enhance waste management by improving compaction efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and optimising site operations.
The acquisition reflects Outlook Australia’s ongoing commitment to investing in the Livingstone Shire, ensuring sustainable waste management practices and operational improvements for the local community.
Mayor Adam Belot emphasised the critical role of efficiency, productivity, and environmental responsibility in landfill management.
“Effective compaction is essential for maximising available space, ensuring site stability, and minimising the environmental footprint of landfill operations,” Mayor Belot said.
“The BOMAG compactor is a purpose bult compactor for landfill operators. We commend Outlook Australia for its forward-thinking investment in our site.”
Infrastructure Committee Co-Chair and Local Authority Waste Management Advisory Committee (LAWMAC) member, Councillor Rhodes Watson, highlighted the compactor’s productivity benefits.
“When it comes to landfill management, time and space are critical. The BOMAG compactor is designed for high efficiency, capable of covering up to 2,000–3,000 square metres per day, depending on waste type and compaction needs,” Cr Watson said.
“This means we can process large volumes of waste faster, leading to optimised fill rates, and more efficient site management.”
Outlook Australia Regional Manager for Queensland, Lori Giles also noted the compactor’s enhanced safety features.
“Landfill operations can be physically demanding, and safety is always our top priority,” Lori Giles said.
“The compactor’s spacious, air-conditioned cab provides excellent visibility, reducing operator fatigue during long shifts. Its advanced controls and ergonomic design ensure efficiency, even in tough landfill conditions.”
The BOMAG compactor is equipped with real-time monitoring systems that track machine performance, fuel consumption, and compaction efficiency, further enhancing safety and operational effectiveness.
“These features allow our operators to maintain optimal compaction while ensuring a safe working environment,” Lori Giles added.
The introduction of the BOMAG compactor marks another step forward in Livingstone Shire’s commitment to sustainable and efficient waste management.
