Yeppoon’s long-awaited Town Centre Revitalisation Project has received a significant boost, with a firm election commitment from the LNP toward the delivery of Stage 1 of this transformative project.

Mayor Adam Belot said with the revitalisation project now a key election commitment, the financial backing needed to move forward with enhancing Yeppoon’s town centre, is one step closer.

“Revitalising our town centre is about creating a more accessible, pedestrian-friendly, business-supportive, and sustainable urban environment,” Mayor Belot said.

“Council has allocated $750,000 to this project as part of its Forward Works Program, and with the estimated cost for Stage 1 around $1.5 million, this election commitment is fantastic news!

“The revitalisation will be executed in stages, beginning with Stage 1 on the easternmost block of Normanby Street.

“The focus will be on landscaping improvements, including planting trees to create an urban green canopy, as well as adding seating, signage, and public art.”

Federal Member for Capricornia Michelle Landry said an elected LNP Government will breathe new life into Yeppoon Town Centre, committing $750,000 to kickstart Stage 1 of the project.

“Yeppoon is booming and investment in local infrastructure must keep pace to support the region’s rapid growth in both population and tourism,” Ms Landry said.

“Yeppoon is one of Central Queensland’s shining success stories and we need to ensure that its infrastructure matches its potential.”

Mayor Belot emphasised that Council remains committed to delivering high-quality outcomes for the community and will work with all relevant stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the revitalisation project.

“We welcome this election commitment and urge all parties to support this vital initiative to secure Yeppoon’s long-term prosperity,” Mayor Belot said.

The project aligns with key government priorities, including Livingstone Shire Council’s Community Plan 2028, Regional Development Australia’s economic strategies, and the Australian Government’s Regional Investment Framework. Economic projections indicate the project will create 25 jobs, inject $10 million into the local economy over the next decade, and attract further investment.

Council will continue to engage with stakeholders and the broader community to ensure the revitalisation project meets local needs and expectations.
