Help to shape Livingstone’s future by joining new Community Voice Panels

In its ongoing commitment to community consultation, Council is undertaking an exciting and innovative new direction in deliberative democracy with the formation of its Community Voice Panels.

An initiative resolved by Council in July, the seven panels are aimed at offering the community the opportunity to help shape Council policies, programmes and services.

Mayor Andy Ireland encouraged the community to get involved with the panel that they had experience in or were most passionate about.

“These panels are aimed at creating real change within the Livingstone community and will be facilitated and supported by each of the Councillors within their respective portfolios,” Mayor Ireland said.

“We’re looking for people who have a desire to contribute on a voluntary basis to attend scheduled meetings which will form part of a dynamic team that will act as a 'voice' to Council on policy, procedures, strategic plans, and advocacy.

“Whether you’re a local business owner, community volunteer, or work in a specialised industry, these Community Voice Panels are an innovative and collaborative approach to share views and opinions through surveys and other research activities.

“Myself and the Councillors are looking forward to engaging closely with members of these panels to work towards enhancing the economic growth and liveability of our Shire,” Mayor Ireland said.
