Council seeks community feedback on enhancements to Marlborough

Livingstone Shire Council is seeking community feedback on enhancements to the Marlborough township including new identity signage.

Funds have been allocated in the budget to support enhancements to Marlborough including; $40, 000 for signage and $100, 000 fully funded through the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland programme for general place making projects.

Council is proposing to install two signs, one at the Bruce Highway exit, and the second at the town entrance.

The highway sign will consist of individual white letters while a range of options are included for the town entrance sign for the local community to consider and provide feedback.

Portfolio holder of Vibrant Community (Tourism, Events and Culture), Councillor Tanya Lynch, said the project will provide a much needed signal to highway users about the town’s presence as well as enhance the general appeal of Marlborough.

“This project will add social and economic value to the Marlborough community,” Cr Lynch said.

“It’s important to ensure our rural communities are seen as inviting and fun for residents and visitors to the area.

“Council would like to hear the community’s views on how best to use these funds to support the town.

“Some of the ideas raised at a community day in Marlborough last month included involving the school in projects, street trees and park activation.

“Council would like to commend the Queensland Government for funding this vital community project.”
