Livingstone Shire Council is recruiting an experienced permanent full time Gardener.

Gardeners work in small crews and report to a Team Leader, and travel and work throughout the Livingstone region in our parks, gardens, reserves, and road reserves.  Your passion and creativity will enhance the regions streetscapes and beautify our parks for use by our residents and visitors to the region.

Candidates who have worked in a garden environment at resorts, caravan parks, motels and in local government are strongly encouraged to apply.

We are looking for candidates with demonstrable experience, skills and knowledge acquired from working as a Gardener and candidates must have a positive safety mindset and be situationally aware of yours and your work mates surroundings. Gardeners operate large ride on mowers, whippers snippers, chain saws, blowers and other plant and equipment. You will have experience performing general maintenance/labouring tasks which includes spraying irrigation, mulching, planting shrubs and trees, including the application of pesticides to treat plant disease, weed and pest control within the scope of training and product knowledge.

Livingstone Shire Council has an exciting opportunity available for a permanent full time Systems and Quality Officer. The ideal candidate will have proven skills and experience in the conducting and reporting of internal or external management system audits as a sole auditor, a member of an audit team, or as the team leader.

Reporting to the Supervisor Systems and QA, this position will provide specialised administrative and technical support in a professional, efficient, and courteous manner and will assist the Infrastructure Portfolio in relation to issues and improvement initiatives for Council’s administration systems, the Quality Management System (QMS) and quality assurance related services. This is an opportunity for a qualified and/experienced Safety Advisor to join an established, proactive and forward thinking safety team. The Safety Advisor role reports to the Coordinator Safety and is an influential role advocating safe work practices, facilitating compliance with legislation, standards, codes, policy and procedures and provides advice and support across the business.

The successful candidate will provide high level advice, guidance and training on all workplace health and safety aspects within Councils operations such as risk management, statutory compliance, incident investigation, training, and induction and contribute to improvement opportunities to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness and improve safe work practices.

Other key responsibilities: 

• Conduct workplace inspections to identify any hazards and unsafe or unsatisfactory workplace health and safety conditions and practices;
• Appropriately report concerns and make sure actions remedying the issue are identified;
• Maintain accurate and confidential workplace health and safety records;
• Provide advice, coaching and support to leaders in relation to investigating accidents and incidents (inc near misses) determining causes and recommending preventative control measures.

Council is seeking to appoint qualified and experienced plant operator/labourers on an ongoing casual basis to join its Urban Operations team.  Candidates will have demonstrated plant operation and labouring experience with a strong commitment to safety practices and will contribute as an effective and positive team member. Your depot is based in Yeppoon however, travel across the Livingstone region will be required as part of the role.

Pre-employment Screening

Preferred candidates will be required to participate in and complete a successful Functional Capacity Evaluation and be willing to be immunised against Hepatitis A&B and Tetanus.

Council is looking for experienced amenities cleaners to work weekend shifts. You will be engaged on a casual basis and will join a dedicated Facilities Services team who take pride in their community and the work they do, keeping public amenities clean and presentable for use by members of the community and visitors. There may be opportunities to work additional days/hours during the week to cover periods of leave.

This position is responsible for carrying out a broad range of cleaning duties and no two days are the same. Cleaning public amenities includes but not limited to, sanitising toilet facilities and sick bays, taps, sinks, door knobs, drinking fountains, windows, and cleaning various elements of vandalism including special cleans and sanitising resulting from acts of vandalism, as well as cobwebbing and mildew control. 

Candidates must have a safety mindset and think safety with all tasks, be customer centric, reliable, have attention to detail, be well presented and physically fit as this role requires manual lifting and the safe operation of high pressure cleaners, extendable equipment, vacuum cleaners and safely use chemicals.

Cleaners have access to a job van and the van must be maintain the in a clean and tidy condition to allow for safe transport of people, products and materials to job sites.  You will have the ability to work independently and at various locations within the Livingstone region as required.
