    The Role

    This role encompasses liaising with the public to assist with customer enquiries, undertaking reviews, assessments and investigations of works carried out on road reserves and undertaking compliance and applications processing for gates and grids as well as a variety of other tasks.

    The ideal candidate will hold either a relevant qualifications (e.g. an Associate Diploma of Engineering Civil) and/or have significant experience in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of municipal infrastructure works.

    The Role

    Livingstone Shire Council is recruiting an experienced permanent full time Gardener.

    Gardeners work in small crews and report to a Team Leader, and travel and work throughout the Livingstone region in our parks, gardens, reserves, and road reserves.  Your passion and creativity will enhance the regions streetscapes and beautify our parks for use by our residents and visitors to the region.

    Candidates who have worked in a garden environment at resorts, caravan parks, motels and in local government are strongly encouraged to apply.

    We are looking for candidates with demonstrable experience, skills and knowledge acquired from working as a Gardener and candidates must have a positive safety mindset and be situationally aware of yours and your work mates surroundings. It doesn’t matter what job you are doing; safety is not negotiable.

    Gardeners operate large ride on mowers, whippers snippers, chain saws, blowers and other plant and equipment. You will have experience performing general maintenance/labouring tasks which includes spraying irrigation, mulching, planting shrubs and trees, including the application of pesticides to treat plant disease, weed and pest control within the scope of training and product knowledge.

    The Role

    This is an opportunity for a qualified and/experienced Safety Advisor to join an established, proactive and forward thinking safety team. The Safety Advisor role reports to the Coordinator Safety and is an influential role advocating safe work practices, facilitating compliance with legislation, standards, codes, policy and procedures and provides advice and support across the business.

    The successful candidate will provide high level advice, guidance and training on all workplace health and safety aspects within Councils operations such as risk management, statutory compliance, incident investigation, training, and induction and contribute to improvement opportunities to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness and improve safe work practices.

    Other key responsibilities: 

    • Conduct workplace inspections to identify any hazards and unsafe or unsatisfactory workplace health and safety conditions and practices;
    • Appropriately report concerns and make sure actions remedying the issue are identified;
    • Maintain accurate and confidential workplace health and safety records;
    • Provide advice, coaching and support to leaders in relation to investigating accidents and incidents (inc near misses) determining causes and recommending preventative control measures.

    The Role

    Council is looking for experienced amenities cleaners to work weekend shifts. You will be engaged on a casual basis and will join a dedicated Facilities Services team who take pride in their community and the work they do, keeping public amenities clean and presentable for use by members of the community and visitors. There may be opportunities to work additional days/hours during the week to cover periods of leave.

    This position is responsible for carrying out a broad range of cleaning duties and no two days are the same. Cleaning public amenities includes but not limited to, sanitising toilet facilities and sick bays, taps, sinks, door knobs, drinking fountains, windows, and cleaning various elements of vandalism including special cleans and sanitising resulting from acts of vandalism, as well as cobwebbing and mildew control. 

    Candidates must have a safety mindset and think safety with all tasks, be customer centric, reliable, have attention to detail, be well presented and physically fit as this role requires manual lifting and the safe operation of high pressure cleaners, extendable equipment, vacuum cleaners and safely use chemicals.

    Cleaners have access to a job van and the van must be maintain the in a clean and tidy condition to allow for safe transport of people, products and materials to job sites.  You will have the ability to work independently and at various locations within the Livingstone region as required.
